RTD Southeast Corridor and Facilities Tour
Saturday, October 28, 2006
Join your fellow rail transit enthusiasts for an all-day tour of the TREX light rail corridor, several transit stations, the new Mariposa transit control center and the Elati maintenance center. We will tour the rail corridor on the morning of October 28 with expert tour guides who designed and built the line. Our plans call for riding on a chartered special LRT train. Questions: call Bob Wilson evenings or weekends at 303-420-7127 or Dave Gross at 303-779-5186.
We will leave from the RTD I-25 and Broadway Park-n-Ride at 9:00 AM and ride to I-225 and Parker Road, then I-25 and Lincoln, stopping at two or three new transit stations along the way. Our train will return to the I-25 and Broadway Park-n-ride at 11:30 AM. At 11:30 we will hand out maps for the afternoon facilities tours and nearby lunch spots. Lunch will be on your own. If you visit both RTD facilities, the tour should end between 3:45 and 4:00 PM.
Starting at 1:00 PM, we will start parallel tours of the RTD Mariposa Transit Control Center at 7th Avenue and Mariposa Street (Denver) and the Elati Maintenance Center on South Elati Street (between Evans and Dartmouth in Englewood). To keep the costs down, participants must arrange for their own transportation to lunch and between the Mariposa and Elati facilities. Please indicate below which facility you would like to see. Due to space limitations, only twelve people can view the new state-of-the-art RTD Mariposa Control Center. For scheduling purposes each group must be limited to 15 minutes. Your tour organizers will assign participants to 15-minute time blocks starting at 1:00 PM with the earliest postmarks assigned the earliest times. The ticket you receive via return mail will show your assigned times.
There will be two tours of the Elati Maintenance Center, one at 1:00 PM and one at 2:45 PM. Your tickets will show your assigned tour times. Your tour leaders will coordinate tour times allowing for your driving between the facilities.
Orders must be postmarked by October 11, 2006. Tickets will be mailed on October 19, 2006. Late orders will be processed on a first come first serve basis.
Cost is $20.00 • Lunch is on your own. • Seating is limited to 100, so make your reservations early.
Trip and cancellation policies: Tour will be limited. After all available tickets are sold we will maintain a waiting list. Those on the waiting list that the Club was unable to ticket will receive a full refund. A full refund, less $10.00 per order handling charge, on cancellations up to October 23, 2006. No refunds will be issued after that date. Reservations are made upon receipt of full fare. Payment may be made by check or credit card. Acceptance of the Club’s rules of conduct is agreed to when reservations are made.Click Here for a Printable Trip Reservation Form
